DIY * Hari Raya Decoration

Paper Star Lantern

So we've all seen these star shaped lanterns before, some in Ikea and some decorating shopping malls across the country. I was curious how to make them and so I did a but of research and it turns out that it's not exactly rocket science. I think it's the perfect way to spend those waiting hours to break fast and get your creative juices going too! Its a nice added touch to the Raya festivities don't you think?

Sputnik Chandelier

I know I've been posting a lot of DIY lately, especially on lighting, but I just couldn't resist posting this one. If you have ever seen a sputnik chandelier like the one on the right but couldn't afford it (cause it costs thousands of dollars) but really wanted it, then have no fear, because 'Ikea Hack' is here! My favorite kind too. Anyway, Jenny from Little Green Notebook posted her own DIY sputnik chandelier by using the Ikea Maskros chandelier, This is a much more affordable version. Only qualm about this is its kinda tedious. Not hard to do, but it does requires a lot of time and effort. Nevertheless, the results are pretty amazing as you can see above. So if you have a free weekend to do some DIY, try this one out! Click here for the full steps.

Woven Lamp
by Arounna Khounnoraj of Bookhou
These DIY lights remind me of a Takraw, but not as put together though. I love the woven, Asian look and how cheap it is to make. These 'pendant' lights will look amazing hanging in a patio or in a small room. So anyway, for the crafty lot out there, this is a definite must try!
