Wallpaper I Love

If you've followed my blog from the beginning  you'll know that there are two things I love most in design. Interesting lighting and patterns. Today, I will bring you 5 stunning patterned wallpapers from around the globe. It does cost a pretty penny but once you have one of these babies up on your feature wall, that hole in your pocket wont hurt so much.

Sketch Wallpaper from Urban Outfitters

I've always admired the stuff that Urban Outfitters churn out but when I saw this lovely honeycomb wallpaper from them, I actually fell in love with this cool hipster store! The sketched octagon shaped patterns in different colours will add a modern chic appeal to any room. Definitely stylish.

Colouring the Home
Zig Zag Strapping Baskets from The Land of Nod
I love colour, yet I tend to shy away from it. Not sure why but I keep leaning towards the overused 'Scandinavian' look. Yet, recently, I've seen a huge trend towards bright colours. Looking at the fashion industry, cobalt's and corals are quite popular and well, it is summer after all. So if I were to dive into the rainbow, i'd probably lean towards these (above and below) amazing brightly coloured and stylish homeware items. Click the caption below the picture for further details on the product and purchasing.

Ink & Spindle

I couldn't help but not share this with you. Having been a fan for a while, I felt it a shame that not many people in Malaysia have heard of this Australian fabric line. Ink & Spindle is a boutique textile studio in Melbourne owned by designers Lara Cameron & Tegan Rose. They design and hand screen print their own textiles using lovely organic cotton and hemp blend fabrics.

The process of screen printing is not easy, it requires quite a bit of patience and well, experience. In fact, it is because of this Australian brand that I picked up screen printing as a hobby. But i'll share that with you later when i'm ready.

Back to Ink & Spindle, their designs are pretty much inspired by nature and their hometown of Melbourne. Clearly printed on their fabrics is Australia's native flora and fauna, and you can get these prints in forms of bags, lampshades and homeware.

To find out more on Ink & Spindle, check out their website here. Keep in mind that they don't take orders by meter like we are used to here. They go by yardage. What's cool though is that they take custom orders because their textile range is largely printed in house.

Anyhow, their workmanship is pretty amazing adding on to the fact that they make these prints using their hands.

Ombre!

Ombre Dresser
It's been a while since I've blogged anything on trends, and perhaps i'm a little behind on this post, but here goes. Ombre ladies and gentlemen, have you ever heard of it? I'd say most people in the fashion and design industry have.

Cool Ombre Wedding Cake
Ombre is a french term that literally means gradation or shaded. Usually a multi coloured stripe with colours graduating from light to dark. It was popular for a while last year, seen mainly as a trend for hair, but that fad has not yet died down in the world of interior design.

Many people have tried to recreate this look by using fabric dyes and paint and some have pulled it off really well.

I am particularly obsessed with the ombre dresser (left) which would look very cool in a nursery or kids room. lf you have the patience and eye for detail, this is definitely a project you should try.

I've also listed three more cool Ombre DIY's that are so easy, you'd wonder why you've never tried it before. Click on the links below the images to read the steps.

Christmas for Home

I usually withhold doing anything for Christmas until December arrives but it's impossible to not notice the upcoming holiday season. So while I wont decorate my house till next month, that wont stop me from shopping for Christmas home decor!

Renai, a local designer homeware brand that is available at Living Quarters here in Malaysia has come out with a lovely Christmas collection that is already available to us! Those cushions above make me feel all warm and cosy inside!

LifeShop, a homeware store in Kota Damansara is also selling their holiday collection for this season of giving. I frequent that shop quite often and I swear you can find interesting items there. Click here for their Facebook page.

Happy Shopping!
