I've had a couple of glass bottles, jars, you name it, sitting on my kitchen counter for weeks, months even. You see, I believe in recycling, but I don't see the point of driving to recycling center with only five bottles. I have been tempted to throw them into the bin really, that would solve my problem, but i'd feel bad about it.
So after doing a bit of research, I found this brilliant idea! Reusing glass bottles as watering globes! Yes, its a little unsightly, but if you travel a lot and you've got a garden to take care of, this easy DIY works like a charm!

To make these recycling bottle watering 'globes,' simply take an empty bottle, fill it with water and slam it down into the soil. It works best when the soil is already damp, so water the plant before you add the glass bottle. If you see bubbles forming, or the water level changing at all, the bottle-mouth may not have sealed against the soil. So pull the bottle out, re-fill it, and try again. Also, if you have an extremely thirsty plant, use a wine bottle, the bigger the bottle, the deeper drink your plants will get.
I must give it a try!!
