Eat * Cook

Tuna Mornay

This so happens to be one of my favorite things to eat. I think its because of the combination of tuna with cheese and cream that makes it so addictive. Its not the most waist friendly dish though, so if you are dieting, perhaps its best to avoid it. If not, dig in! Its super yummy comfort food!

Ingredients:

1 medium finely chopped onion
1 stick celery, finely chopped
1 tablespoon plain flour
3/4 cups milk
1/2 cup cream
1/3 cup grated tasty cheese
130g can corn, drained
4 mushrooms chopped
1 can tuna, drained

1. In a saucepan, cook the celery and onion in butter (you can use olive oil) until soft. Add flour and stir constantly over medium heat until it is mixed well. Gradually stir in combined milk and cream until mixture boils and thickens.
2. Remove from heat, add cheese, corn, mushroom and tuna. Return to heat and cook for a couple of minutes to ensure cheese has melted thoroughly in the sauce. Serve with pasta.
(To switch it up, you can also pour the sauce in an ovenproof dish, sprinkle breadcrumbs and cheese on top. Cook in a moderate hot oven until the topping is crispy and golden).
